Yahoo Messenger Going down on 17th July 2018. An emotional letter by a fan remembering the golden era that now comes to an end.

Dear Yahoo,

Yahoo messenger was one of the first as well as the finest chat application. Chatting, to the most of our generation, started from Yahoo messenger in the public domain. Private chats as well as the chat rooms, were all a world of fantasy that soon became the world we lived in.

It's a sad news that Yahoo Messenger will no longer be supported after July 17, 2018. However, I do believe changes do happen. And, are essential to keep the river flowing. But trust me, the heart is heavy as if someone very own is going far far away.

The messenger has been a part of my childhood and of millions like me. It has supported me from contacting guys for studies as well as chatting late hours with my girlfriend. And, who could ever forget that chats with unknowns beginning with the all new discovered slangs like "a/s/l please" and frequently supplemented with the cool additions to our vocabulary like "brb", "lol" and "imo" etc. It has also been the only support in my long distance relationship with my ex.

I pretty much remember everything. Those were the days before Orkut, MySpace, Facebook, Watsapp, Hike or anything. The free chatrooms with multiple people checking in and leaving was an experience  out of the box. We have developed sincere and full-fledged virtual relationships with someone we never met. Sometimes, we waited for hours at odd hours for people to check-in the chat room. And, sometimes we just waited for hours before sending that first 'hi' to our crushes. Looks like some most cherished memories circle around Yahoo Messenger!

I’ve loved using the tool and want to thank you Yahoo for bringing such a product for us. I know that you will continue to focus on building and introducing new, exciting communication tools that impact and delight your users.

Sort Blog Posts using Yahoo Pipes - Blogger Posts in alphabetical, chronological, date wise order

Problem Statement: Sort the Blog posts in a desired order like chronological, or Alphabetical order.
One of the many tools: Yahoo Pipes. We will use Yahoo Pipes to solve this problem.

Yahoo! Pipes is a web application from Yahoo! that provides a graphical user interface for building
data mashups that aggregate web feeds, web pages, and other services, creating Web-based apps from
various sources, and publishing those apps. Hence, Yahoo Pipes is an amazing Data Mining Tool.
Or, lets say a Data analysis tool. Now let us see what does it take to get to our solution of sorting the Blog posts in a desired order like chronological, or Alphabetical order. And that too using Yahoo Pipes!!

Step 1: Get the Blog Feed using Atoms
First we get the blog feed URL. In this case we will use :
http://http://new-it-discussions.blogspot.in/atom.xml
Then to include all posts we add this parameter to the above feed url :
?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=999
This will fetch 1000 posts from the blog. Now the complete feed url is :
http://http://new-it-discussions.blogspot.in/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=999


Step 2: Launch the Yahoo Pipes project to create data mashup for aggregating and analysing data
For this Just Create a Yahoo Profile and Register A Pipes Account.

Step 3: Using Yahoo Pipes to create Web based app combining data from different sources and applying analytics
The Left HAndside Menu will have different options and operators.
Use Feed Operator as Input. So, now input to you Pipe will  be the feed from your blog
Now Bring, drag and drop, a Sort Operator.
For reference, please see the image which shows my Pipe in development stage :)

I used the sort by itel.PubDate. This means sorting by Publishing date.
You can sort by Alphabetically and other options. You may also select Ascending or descending.
Now connect the output from this to the final output.
This compleet one Yahoo Pipe.
You can Run and then publish the Yahoo Pipe

Voila!!
Your First Yahoo  PIpe is created.

The Internet and cyber Censorship has become latest craze of governments across the globe. But they fail to understand the real situation and challenge in solving the issue:

"The time you spend while reading this article must have been used by several people at several locations to generate several offensive contents for several societies in several languages over several internet portals. And be assured of several formats too!"

Lets see how far the ban in china, Arab spring, and ruling against Facebook, Yahoo, Google etc in India takes us. I believe that the Internet is free, is free, and not be curbed. So, no need to be afraid of. as No Mayan Calendar end date has still been set for the Internet!!

I have received this email twice and one of my frends also got the same. The message is attached below:

Every account owner that receives this message has encountered this error and will have to update his/her account with the requested information below.
Please be sure to click the REPLY button first before attempting to fill the info.

Now frends please remember that these type of emails are all scams. Never reveal your identity to them. Some red flags to notice a scam as can be seen here:
1) See the Sender "Yahoo sevice account". Spelling Mistake!! Not even SERVICE was spelt properly
2) Another, notice that it was not send you personally. Rather it was send to undisclosed recipients.
3) Why would Yahoo ask password and id details from you. Dont they have these details.
4) A simple header search of email tells that it is not coming from Yahoo.com. Though it seems but it is very easy trick. I can send you email from NASA, Bill Gates, US Prez, Any Superstar official email id, Without even an effort of 2 minutes. Some times later on that ;)

So please be aware of these types of scam. They can also be categorised in Phishing attacks.
