How can I open a cmd window in a specific location on Windows

Hi,

This hack will help you in many ways. And, shall help you many ways too!
This is a part of my initiative to post simple tricks aimed to Help/ease a QA Day to day life. These Tech Hacks are very handy but increase your efficiency much.

So, for our case today - How can I open a cmd window in a specific location on Windows; I provide two methods:

Trick 1:

If the folder is opened.
Click on address bar, alternatively press Alt+D
Now when address bar is highlighted, type cmd in the bar.
Press Enter key
You will notice that command prompt from that folder



Trick 2:

In the folder. Press Shift and then Right Click

A option appears -> Open Command Window here.

Press that. It will open a command window with present working directory as the selected hotel

It is noteworthy to understand that HTML does work in the ReadMe.md file. With this clear understanding, I guess many of such questions would be automatically answered like - how to make bold font in ReadMe file, or how to insert image etc. Also note that it depends a lot on what application/ text editor you are using and also lot on the OS. 

Recently I had trouble in inserting blank line character in the Readme.md file of Github. I personally preferred < br /> tag there, and i have a full post describing the same: http://www.w3lc.com/2017/05/new-line-in-readme-file-github-fixing.html.

This understanding was much needed to handle the question and also to find many other uses of why you would probably need to do it!

Further, to answer the question straight, you need two steps: 

1. Find the Url for the ReadMe.md file in Raw version. For example see one: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Anwar-Faiz/forkrap/master/README.md

2. Now if you want to use server side the using file_gets_content etc of php you can load the url. Or, if you want to use jquery, you can use the Load().

** Do, also notice that if you do View Source of the Raw URL page, you just see, plain text. So, you don't need to do much text parsing stuffs as well :) This is a good news.

** Next you can use unescape functions or tools like codebeautify to unescape the characters that can alter with the look and feel of your HTML like ' <   " etc etc.

Javascript to open new popup window center on screen

I have met this requirement several times and have written this many times from scratch.
I seem to forget the syntax and refer on the internet again and again. this time I formaly wanted to give it a place on my blog itself.
So here comes a simple java script function that opens a new pop-up window and puts it on middle of screen :-







For example you may try out the following link...
Click Here to open POPUP WINDOW

Clicking on the above link will open a new window. Voila!! U achieved a popup window. True, it was as easy as this. But the syntax to open a new window should be kept in mind.

You can return to this blog, whenever you feel like. There are a lots more advices, secret tricks, tips in programming. I do this for joy and passion. But no wrong if I request you to click on few of the Advertisement links. It would help me getting my bread and butter.
